New documents do not appear without reselecting all

    I am using Document Gallery to display newsletters for a nonprofit organization. They are organized by year, and for each year there is a shortcode command, for example [dg attachment_category=Y2015]. I am using this within a Divi Text module. It works except that when I add a new newsletter, it does not appear in the Document Gallery. In order to get it to appear, I have to select “Add Media”, reselect all of the newsletters for that year, press “Insert into page” and then delete the extra links that are added. After that the new newsletter appears. Is there a way to get the new newsletter to appear in document gallery whenever the new media is added without going through these extra steps?

    Hi Jeff,

    What you describe sounds like whatever plugin you’re using to set the attachment_category taxa for your attachments is not making the necessary updates until you perform the insert actions you describe. There’s nothing that DG can do in this case because it can only match the attachments that WordPress reports as a member of the requested category =/

    I would recommend filing a bug report with that plugin developer.

    EDIT: Feel free to point them to this thread if they need clarification on the technicalities of the issue you’re describing.

    Dan,

    I am using Media Library Assistant to assign the attachment_category for a new document. I am quite certain that it is set before I look for the file in Document Gallery. Is there any other update that is needed?

    Hi Jeff,

    Document Gallery simply queries WordPress for members of all requested taxa. It does not cache any of that so as soon as WordPress has updated values they are used, this leave the only point failure as the plugin implementing taxon support for attachments. So unfortunately there is nothing I can do other than what I have already recommended which is to report the bug to Media Library Assistant.
