Need Help Positioning Adsense Code

Hi, I am currently trying to put a vertical banner on the left side of my blog, on the left of the posts. I have been trying to manipulate things adding and changing code for hours, but for some reason I am not able to get the ad on the left side of the screen, in line with the post. I want it to be on the left so that when you scroll down it is there. My blog is Sensible Culture Any help would be great.
