    Hello.

This plugin loses functionality with each update and currently its navigation isn’t functioning at all. The arrows to move forward/backward through a month do not work and neither does switching the event views (month, list, etc.). The actions are triggered because you can see the loading visual, but nothing changes except that the URI is appended with “/(/?:month)/.”

Also, the search is also not functioning. The action of searching works but it yields no results even when it there are events matching a keyword. What’s more, when the search is enacted it removes all events from the calendar, which can only be fixed by using our site navigation to click back onto the calendar page.

We’ve tested this in multiple browsers on multiple platforms so it’s not a compatibility issue in that area.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Some more information about our troubleshooting process. We switched to the “Twenty Twenty” theme and disabled all plugins except for Events Calendar, Events Calendar Pro, and Events Calendar: Filter Bar. Doing this fixes the problem for one click. We can change the event view or move to another month using the arrows, but then no other filter/navigation option functions. So after the first option is clicked the original issue returns.

Also, these issues are the same on large and small screens, so this is dysfunctional using both desktop and mobile browsers.

    Thank you for reaching out.
We are sorry for the inconvenience you have experienced over the last few updates.

I believe the specific issue you are describing is related to the use of a multi-language plugin (WPML in this case).

In order to troubleshoot things, would you mind checking a few things for me?

    1. Is your user profile set to a different language than the main site’s language?
    2. Have you run the WPML troubleshooting tools? Sometimes, after an update I have found that URL-based issues can be fixed by using those.

With that in mind, there is also something else that is worthy of your attention. I noticed you are still using our non-updated designs.

This is important for a couple of reasons:

    • Those views are deprecated since last August. In other words, we cannot guarantee that they will keep their functionality when you update our plugin
    • We will completely sunset those designs somewhere around June (aka completely remove the option from our plugin). When that happens, you will be automatically ported to the new designs. We highly recommend testing the update to the new design before we sunset

Here are couple of links to help you test things out:

    Hi, Geoff.

Thanks for your reply and for the advice.

I apologize for the confusion about the updated designs. We’ve been using those since the beginning and everything was broken. I switched to the non-updated designs after I posted this, forgetting that I referenced this post with a URL. Using the non-updated designs made everything work again. So it’s actually the updated designs that break everything and the non-updated designs that properly function. Perhaps that’s a clue that can help us solve this.

Regarding the WPML issue, we explicitly chose your plugin because you and WPML noted compatibility with one another. So this potentially being the issue is disappointing.

    Beginning with your questions:

    1. Yes, our profiles and the main language are both English.
    2. We have not run WPML troubleshooting tools because we were focused on your plugin. It sounds like with this you’re referencing URL-based issues. Is that what you’re thinking is the issue here?

    Thanks.

For reference, here is a screencast of the issues seen with the updated designs:

You can see the address bar and the calendar. Note that there are no console errors when clicking through these.

    Hi @markwyner

Thanks for following up! I see that you are experiencing this issue with a default WordPress theme and the updated calendar views.

Can you try it with no other plugins activated besides The Events Calendar?

Also, it appears that you have access to our premium support. Can we continue the conversation over there? We’ll be able to provide you with more individualized support there. We appreciate your understanding!

    Thanks,
    Jaime
