navigation menu disappears

This is intentional on how the theme operates, you can see it in the demo at https://wordpress.org/themes/lodestar/ 🙂

I’m not entirely sure why the designer chose this, perhaps to get the menu out of the way as the featured image scrolls down, as it does re-appear once that has passed, but overall there’s nothing unexpected in the behavior here.
