I would like the nav menu be transparent and float over the main header picture.

you have to change background color to transparent from this
#header.skehead-headernav.skehead-headernav-shrink {
background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% rgba(255, 255, 255, 1);
}
to
#header.skehead-headernav.skehead-headernav-shrink {
background: none repeat scroll 0% 0% rgba(255, 255, 255, 0.12);
}
this will make your header transparent when you scroll …ask if you have other questions…….
but this change make navigation text unclear
