Native Gallery?

Does this plugin pull from the native wordpress gallery? I’m trying to find a slider that works with WPDirectories Pro. They say this:

“Yes, the “Gallery” field renderer simply calls the [gallery] shortcode of WordPress, so any plugin that hooks into the rendering process of the shortcode should work fine.”

Is this true for this plugin? Thanks!
