narrow page width wp 2012

    I have been working on the site:

    http://www.principesilver.com (2012 child theme) and it is fine on my laptop but on my phone the page width (or at least the black part of the site) uses only one third of the screen. I thought at first it was possibly an unresponsive header, but even when I remove the header, the page is still very narrow. I think I have done something in my child theme. I have scanned all of the child theme files and I nothing sticks out! Suggestions?

    could for some part be caused by the header image;
    remedy:
    .site-header img { max-width: 100%; height: auto; }

    and for some other part by the fixed width slider on the page;
    no quickfix; possibly use a different slider
