What roles are assigned to these users? If they’re “customer”, then they’re related to sales through Woo. If not “customer”, then what?
You would not necessarily receive emails directly from the new users, only from the wordpress/woo systems – It sounds like what you are receiving are the notification emails to let you know that they have registered. Part of that registration is that an email is required, which is what the emails are referring to the generating the username.
If you are concerned that the new registrations are not legit, you can review the users for that, and then try an anti-spam measure like google recaptcha, which is a fairly simple plugin and woo friendly. You will have to register with google developer api to get your keys, but that also is fairly simple and the plugin (I believe) has some instructions and a link on how to do that.
On this site there is nothing for them to register for, nor even a page that allows registration. When they finally buy the book they provide the usual information and the financial details are sent to me by the appropriate parties. I’m now up to 175 new users in the past couple weeks and NO notification of any book sales NOR any money coming in. So where does WordPress think it is sending this confirmation, and why?
I would love to have hundreds of people waiting out there to buy the book and hate to be disappointing them. It would even be beneficial if these people were registering on a blog about the book, but I can’t chat with them because I don’t think there is a blog attached to the site. Who are these people??
I just get an e-mail from WordPress advising of a new user registration and get the e-mail address of that user. I am hesitant to start a conversation with any of them for fear of this all being some scam. If I could backtrack and find out on what site they entered their information, I would know who to contact and clear up this misunderstanding. Can this be done?
I had a similar problem with user registration spam…it took my web host adding captcha to my login to get rid of the problem…they deleted all the “users” who were all spammers…none of the emails I replied to ever replied…they were all fiction…
