• I was tweaking the CSS in a blog I’ve just started, more or less successfully, when all of a sudden I couldn’t see the blog or the admin page. I’m getting the following message instead:

Warning: main(/home/content/m/s/r/msrbmorris/html/wordpress/wp-includes/feed.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/content/m/s/r/msrbmorris/html/wordpress/wp-settings.php on line 266

Warning: main(/home/content/m/s/r/msrbmorris/html/wordpress/wp-includes/feed.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/content/m/s/r/msrbmorris/html/wordpress/wp-settings.php on line 266

Fatal error: main(): Failed opening required ‘/home/content/m/s/r/msrbmorris/html/wordpress/wp-includes/feed.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/local/lib/php’) in /home/content/m/s/r/msrbmorris/html/wordpress/wp-settings.php on line 266

I haven’t fooled around with the php at all, nor did I remove any of the php files from my server.

Can someone help me with this?

I suppose I could take all the wordpress files off my server and start again, since I have no content yet, but that seems rather extreme.

    Please reply to roberta@besidemyself.com

    Thanks.

  • A “failed to open stream: No such file or directory in” error message usually means not all of the files were uploaded properly when you set WordPress up. It can’t find a file it’s calling.

    Thanks, Len.

If that were the case, why would everything have been showing up properly and this error message generated only while I was fiddling around with the CSS? (Which I’d been doing successfully.)

Is it possible that, in this process, I somehow messed up the wp-settings.php code on line 266?

Is there a fix other than starting over again?
