• In the process of editing my website [arvoiceovers.com] this morning, all of a sudden the WP dashboard froze up and wouldn’t let me access anything, giving me some sort of error code.

    I tried logging back in through my admin panel at http://arvoiceovers.com/wp-admin/ and got this message (different than the one when dashboard froze up):

    =====
    Internal Server Error

    The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

    Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@arvoiceovers.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

    More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

    Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
    =====

    I logged into the control panel of my hosting site without any issues.

    Please offer any insight you might have as to what may have gone wrong and how it can be fixed…keeping in mind that I know next to nothing about computer code! Thanks so much.

  • remove the .htaccess file or put in backup folder and then check once the site

    Why would it be an .htaccess issue?

    Try checking your site’s error logs for a more specific error message. Your host should be able to help you in accessing your site’s error logs.

    wprock, thanks for the quick suggestion. Please excuse my ignorance when it comes to coding. How do I get to the place where I need to remove that file?

    esmi, I checked the error logs through my host – none appear.

    Did you actually review the error log for your site?

    connect via FTP or CPanel . You will get the file in root folder

    In CPanel, there is an icon labeled ‘Error Log’. It takes me to a page with this followed by a large box, which is empty:

    Error Log

    This function will display the last 300 errors for your site. This can be very useful for finding broken links or problems with missing files. Checking this log frequently can help keep your site running smoothly.
    Last 300 Error Log messages in reverse order:

    Since the box that follows is empty, I assume that means it believes there are no errors to display.

    Try contacting your hosts for assistance. They may be able to help in tracking the error down.
