• I’m really sorry if I appear daft, but I’m new to this – bear with me!

A couple of days ago I successful logged in to my site by going to the /wp-admin page and entering my password. Happy days.

Today, I try to go into it and I get this error message:

Warning: Cannot modify header information – headers already sent by (output started at /hermes/bosweb/web053/b533/ipg.ronyarcouk/angliachimneysweeps/wp-content/plugins/twitter-feed-scroller/ajaxtwitter.php:16) in /hermes/bosweb/web053/b533/ipg.ronyarcouk/angliachimneysweeps/wp-includes/pluggable.php on line 934

    {{cries}}

What am I doing wrong? Can someone explain in really easy language because my head is starting to bleed…

Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give me

Little update… the error message above includes a reference to Twitter – I did try to install this on my page but it didn’t work so I’d taken it off again

It’s your Twitter Feed Scroller plugin that is messing you up, delete the plugin using your FTP – Automattic has a good Twitter plugin that I use religiously.

Thanks Jorge – how do I get into this? (sorry, I am completely new at this and probably very stupid)

No, you’re not stupid and don’t feel that way here – we all start somewhere. To answer, if you’re on PC, follow these steps:

    1. Click on “Start”
    2. Click on “My Computer” or “My Network Places” (We need a Window up)
    3. On the address type the following URL and log into your FTP

    ftp://yourwebsite.com/

This may be different depending on who’s doing your hosting.

    3. Go to your /wp-content/plugins/ directory and delete the twitter-feed-scroller plugin

Your WP-ADMIN should be accessible then.

login to your host’s control panel. there’ll be a file manager tool there.

Thanks Jorge. I’m now in the FTP but can’t see the plugins folder. I’m having a look in all the other folders, but no joy so far…
(Thanks for your patience πŸ™‚ )

You’ll find it in your WordPress install directory under /wp-content folder; then go to the /plugins directory. You should see a folder named /twitter-feed-scroller.

Either delete that folder or change the name so your install deactivates the plugin.

    Jorge you are a genius!!

I’ve found the folder now and the offending Twitter folder too. I’m now going to delete it and then cross all my fingers that WordPress plays nicely again πŸ™‚

Thank you so much for your help – you’ve saved me hours (perhaps days) or shouting at my computer!

Oh no! It won’t let me delete the folder. (aarrrgghhhhh!!)

    Any suggestions? I’m flummoxed

It won’t let me delete the folder

Have you tried changing the name of the folder?

    Thread Starter chipletmum

    (@chipletmum)

No, it won’t let me do that either.

    Grr

{{cries}} Now it’s trying to compress the site folder.
It hates me. It’s the only explanation.

Try asking your hosts for assistance.

All fixed! I contacted the hosts who pointed me in the direction of the file manager. Although I couldn’t delete via ftp, I could delete via the file manager. Smiles all round. Phew

Thanks everyone for your invaluable support πŸ™‚
