My website was hacked

So basically, I run hosting for my personal websites as well as some businesses. Last Thursday my web hosting was hacked. I contacted my hosting company and it still hasn’t been resolved. Needless to say, I will be changing companies after this.

One of the wordpress sites I run for a business has been hacked. The hacker changed the passwords and emails so I can no longer access the site at all, even to change the emails. The hacker has been emailing us tell us they “saw our site has been hacked” and offering to “help” us fix it. We haven’t replied. The hacker is also trying to get into my other accounts like my Envato account where I bought my wordpress theme.

I am not sure how to regain access to my website when the hacker changed all the information. Please help! I have been getting almost no help from every direction I turn.

Do you have backups of your sites including the Databases?

Remain calm and carefully follow this guide. When you’re done, you may want to implement some (if not all) of the recommended security measures.

Have you been able to fix your passwords? CK this post. You may be able to get your host to help with this.

Once you have your sites fixed I recommend doing backups on all. When you look for a new host ask them if they have a backup/restore utility as part of the plan.

Alright, so I got back into my website, but the hacker is still there! Initially the hacker took my theme and put it on a countdown page that said “This website has been hacked” and changed all the passwords and emails. So I got back into my current hosting and changed all the passwords to long complicated series of numbers, letters and symbols. Then Reestablished the website. It was back up for a few days and now the website simply goes to a black page that says this website is hacked. I don’t know where that page is to redirect it.

I don’t even know if this makes sense, but I am extremely frustrated. I am hoping that I can get the site back up and then I will transfer my hosting.

Did you work through the instructions that codemovement gave you?

If you don’t, you’re likely to get hacked again.

Simply changing passwords is good, but not enough.
