• Greetings. I’ve been having the darndest time getting my smilies to convert to their graphical equivalents. I have the convert button checked, and I’ve tried ditching all the plugins to see if it helps, but it doesn’t. I’ve tried it on Safari AND Firefox. I’ve cleared the caches and cookies, but no luck.

    http://www.lockspur.com is the place.

    Any ideas?

  • Are smilies installed by default?
Try using WP Grins, google it and see if it makes a difference.

I installed WP-Grins and that seemed to help. I then posted something new with 🙂 and it showed the code : and ) not the graphical smilie. I had to drag one into the post to get it to work.

And yes, they are installed in the proper location. 🙂

OK at least you can get them inside the post now.

As for the conversion all I know is that you should have the Convert option Checked in Options Writing panel.

You say you have this, just double check it anyway.

Also remember no punctation can appear after or before a smilie otherwise it won’t render.

I have triple checked that it is, indeed, checked.

Regarding punctuation location. How far away from the code does it have to be? Typically I insert the code before a sentence, or after a sentence. However, I always put a few spaces before or after it.
