Below are instructions for disabling your plugins as a basic troubleshooting step. Often a misbehaving plugin can give the results you’re experiencing.

If you can’t access your admin pages, you’ll need to use an FTP client (like FileZilla), or your host’s cpanel (or File Manager) and navigate to the files on the server.

In your WP installation there, find wp-content/plugins and rename that plugin folder to something like plugins-hold. That will disable all plugins and hopefully allow you to get back into WP admin. Rename the folder back to the original. Then you can start re-activating plugins until you find the problem one(s).

If that doesn’t do it, likewise rename your active theme’s folder so that WP will use a default WP theme temporarily. That way you can rule out whether the theme is at fault or not.

I really appreciate any help, thanks.

Have you renamed the plugins folder and your theme folder and manually reinstalled WP?

i renamed it to plugins-hold. not reinstalled wordpress i dont wanna lose my work?

You won’t lose anything so long as you do not delete or overwrite the wp-content folder or the wp-config file. Read this carefully:

    WPyogi…

You said not to delete/overwrite the wp-content or wp-config, in the link you sent it says to do that

Upload the individual files from the new wp-content folder to your existing wp-content folder, overwriting existing files. Do NOT delete your existing wp-content folder. Do NOT delete any files or folders in your existing wp-content directory (except for the one being overwritten by new files).

can u explain this? i dont get what i have to do for this part.

Ah, yeah, that’s confusing – sorry. Try it without deleting or overwriting that folder at all.

    Yogi,

It looks like all is now fine after removing the two folders and re uploading them. You have no idea how thankful I am.

GREAT! Always happy to hear that too :)! Good job!
