My posts won’t summerize

I had a pretty basic blog layout but then decided to turn my entire site into a blog with various sections. I really liked the Sliding Doors layout by Wayne. I exported my old posts, installed the blog to the root dir, then imported my old posts.

Anyway, now all of the posts show up in their entirety instead of a summery like they are supposed to. I checked the box in the settings/reading area that said show posts as a Summery.

Also, the images at the top of the blog are supposed to link to certain categories. However, every button displays all of the posts no matter what category they are in.

I know very little of coding so any help would be greatly appreciated.
