I’m beginning to think multisite was a bad choice for me. I want to make my subsites more social, by adding plugins for publishing to Facebook and twitter, and also to add social buttons on my posts.

There’s plenty of plugins out there for this, but I can’t tell if they support multisite.

For example, I’ve tried Facebook page Publish 2, and got into all sorts of bother with it. I can only connect my main domain to a FB app and not my subdomains, and the default picture option behaves differently on different subsites.

Can anyone recommend a social plugin that does what I want and works smoothly on multisite? Also, does jetpack work on multisite?

    Thanks in advance, Robin

  • First,
Yes Jetpack works on Multisite in the same/similar way it works on a single WP site. The FB and Twitter sharing plugins there may suit what you are after.

    Second,
I know some of your frustration. Many plugins deserve a try on your test server before you decide to include them in a live multisite. Many(most) plugin authors have not developed plugins by testing them on multisite but they work without a hitch nonetheless. The only way to know for yourself is to test them yourself – on a sandbox -trial and error, but less frustrating for you and your users.

    Third,
Try attaching more specifically worded requests to the specific support forum for the plugins you have tried. The support threads under the Facebook Publish 2 suggest Social as an alternative (read up on the support for Social and try it on a test server first).
