We just moved our multisite to a new Plesk server. Following the instructions here for moving (without changing the urls) we simply transferred the files to the new root folder and imported the database into the new account. Then we changed the DNS

So now our main domain (www.bodhicharya.org) is pointing the new hosting space as I can see other files in the http folder. But the all the WP files just create a REDIRECT LOOP error. Home Page, login page etc

Any thoughts? I’ve come up with and tried these things after hours of google searching.

I checked the .htaccess against the default for multisite and all is ok.

I removed the www. from DOMAIN_CURRENT_SITE in wp-config.php and removed the www. from wp-blogs and wp-options in the database. While this did allow me to login to the backend, it still didn’t load the website itself. So I have put it back as it was.

I saw on one forum that:

The newest Plesk verison which comes with nginx and was causing the redirect loops. Nginx by default redirects to the non www, after editing the config file for this to www the problem was quickly solved.

However, I don’t really know what to do with that as all urls in my files an database already all use www.

So, I don’t really know where to go next.

    Can anyone help?

OK. I think I’ve got it sorted, but still have to go through the sites to make sure all links work.

It does seem to be this ‘to www. or not to http://www.’ thing.

So I went back and removed the www. from DOMAIN_CURRENT_SITE in wp-config.php

Then , in PHPMyAdmin, I went through WP-BLOGS and WP-OPTIONS and removed all of the www. from the urls. This included site_url, Home_url and file upload paths.

So all seems to be back online both front and back end.

I quite like a full www. address, so its a bit of a shame. But at least its back working. Plus, if you use a link which has the www. prefix, it just redirects to the site anyhow.
