Multiple lists and confirmation emails – suggestion

    Hi guys,
    here just to exchange some thoughts about the handling of the lists and the confirmation emails.

    I have 3 lists:

    1. List ASIA
    2. List AMERICA
    3. List EUROPE

    I have also 3 forms that lead to the related list:

    1. Form ASIA
    2. Form AMERICA
    3. Form EUROPE

    Let’s say I’m a new user, and I subscribe to the list ASIA using the form ASIA.
    I’ll get the confirmation email (because the “signup confirmation” is enabled). The confirmation email is general, as there is only one confirmation email used for all the lists.

    Once I get the confirmation email, I’ll click the activation link and I’m redirected to the “thank you page”.

    I’m still subscribed to the ASIA but after a couple of days list I want to subscribe to the another list, EUROPE. So I subscribe using the form EUROPE.

    Now, I receive the same confirmation email and have to click again to the activation link that will redirect me again, to the “thank you page”.

    Now, is it possible to avoid to send the second confirmation email if someone is already subscribed to another list?

    If not yet, it will be done in the future or absolutely no?

    Alessio, you’re pointing out a quirk in MailPoet which we are well aware of.

    The second confirmation email does indeed serve no purpose because the subscriber is already confirmed. 🙂

    This said, we’ve always left it as such because:

    1. Most people only manage a list or two. Even when there’s two, subscribers tend to subscribe only once.

    2. Because the quirk doesn’t impede on the usability

    3. Because it removes bloat in the forms settings: an admin doesn’t need to set a second message like “You’re already subscribed”

    We don’t plan on changing this behavior in the future.
