• Hi I’m looking for some advice on my site.

My friend wants me to make him a site with wordpress and doesn’t care about to domain so I said he could use mine because I’ve got good hosting.

Anyway is it possible for me to install a new installation of wordpress on my site, lets say at http://www.domain.com/second/? With it he can have his own theme and own pages, it will basically look like a new site but it’s still on my site. He could maybe have a link at the bottom of his “site” that links back to my sites homepage and all.

I’m not sure about how the user accounts would work as I assume I would need two mySQL databases? Also is there a feature to grab his blog posts and display them on my home site also?

Sorry for if this sounds confusing, I’m still relatively new to wordpress =)

  • There are several ways to do this. If you want him to have a completely separate installation with his own WP install and separate database, you can just put all his files in a new folder on your site at the same level as your wp-content.

Create a new database for him and install WP in the folder. His URL would look like the example you showed.

If you want everything in a single database, you can use WP Multisite as explained in the Codex under Create a Network.
