Support » Plugin: Active Directory Integration » Multiple AD Groups

  • Hello,

Is there any way to add one user to have multiple roles? I.e. a user may be a member of group1 and group2, but they are only added to group1 by the way the group to group module is written.

If there is no way to add to multiple groups, is it possible to disable group addition/subtraction after the initial upload is done so a user’s group doesn’t overwrite and we can add them to multiple groups? We do want to keep the automatic upgrades of the other fields in place though.

If neither of these are possible, I’d like to suggest this be added in a future version.

    Thank you!

  • I had a similar need so I edited the plugin to do just that. You can download it here:

We too would like to see this in an upcoming version of ADI.

Ryan: I will give your “plugin” a go in our Lab but if it does what you say it does then you will have solved a big problem for us. So thanks!

    Hey guys,
I added this feature request as ADI-141 to our internal bugtracker. Will be most likely included in ADI 2.0.

    🙂 Good news indeed

    Hey Guys,

I’ve downloaded the plugin above. And it worked pretty good. But when I remove a person from a group in AD, it will not update his wordpress profile roles after a re-login.

What Am I doing wrong here? Does anyone had a similar experience?

Ryan_Prejean, could you maybe have a look at my question above?

Your plugin is working almost perfect except for updating wp roles after a AD group member removement.

I thouth that when I remove a user from an AD group and he is still a member of an other group he will login and then his WordPress roles will update itself.

    Have you got an idea?

Yeah, I realized that would be an issue a few days ago. The way I rewrote the plugin adds all of the roles that are assigned, but doesn’t touch the currently assigned role. I’ll look into fixing that.

    Hi Ryan,

Great! Have you got a clou when you can have this update? Because I like your amended plugin very much!!

I’ve updated the plugin mod on my site to remove outdated roles. Go ahead and give it a try and let me know if you come across any issues. I just tested it out at my company, and it seems to working well.

    Hi Ryan,

It worked great for me. Thanks a lot for that.

Now I only need to figure out a way to get my wp-login.php as my default frontend login page.

What an excellent topic! I decided to make a post for it:

Force Login with Redirect and Exceptions

    Hi Rayn,

Great post again, but i’m using your AD1 plugin in combination with the Wishlist member plugin which is not working verry wel in regards of recognising membership levels. Although I can use the wp-login.php page. And this is great.

Is it maybe possible as a last request towards you to make a connection between the AD1 membership levels and the wishlist levels?

I hope you can help me with this.

I’m sorry, I’ve never used that plugin and have no idea how it works. If you’d like, you could send me your website login info via the contact page on my site. I’ll be happy to take a look, but if the plugin uses some crazy off the wall method of creating user roles then you’re probably out of luck.

    I’ve it already working!

Thanks for yoyr help and your plugin amendment!

Hi Ryan and the creaters of AD1,

Your adjustments on the ADI 1 plugin stil works great!

But now we would like use a second Active Directory server with another domain name. Is this possible with this plugin or do I have to wait for ADI 2.0?

And if so when will this ADI 2.0 become public?

And last question will this ADI 2.0 have your amendments with multiple WP role asingment and update WP roles after a login?

    Thanks in advance,
