    FYI.

I didn’t want to edit the documentation on this because I’m new to WP and don’t want to scew anything up.

I came accross a couple of things in the process that were not in the documentation

I used the doc: MOVING WORDPRESS WITHIN YOUR SITE

    step 10 –
while moving files and subdirectories the file xfer hung up on a file called: advanced-cache.php

The error in SmartFTP was: 550 advanced-cache.php: No such file or directory.

I searched and couldn’t find this file anywhere in the WP doc.

At this point WP-ADMIN, WP-CONTENT, WP-INCLUDES still appeared in the original source directory and SmartFTP log showed: 550 rename: Device or resource busy.

Being stuck there I decided to take a chance and delete advanced-cache.php. The WP-x directories would not relocate after a couple of retries – HOWEVER – it appeared that they had already been copied (not moved) to this new directory.

It seemed to work and I appear to be OK at this point.

I ’bout crapped in my pants during this thinking that I had screwed the blog up because none of this was documented. Either I did something wrong following the directions or the Docuemetation needs to address this littel sidetrack

advanced-cache.php is usually not a real file, but a symlink. Caching plugins like WP-Cache or WP-SuperCache use it as part of the caching process. Generally speaking, deactivating and reactivating those plugins will recreate the symlink after you move it to the new location.
