Hi there – did you get this sorted out? I see your Home link in the main menu area.

    Hi Kathryn

A friend fixed it for me with jQuery. I’m sure there must be a less techie solution though so if you can think of anything please do let me know!

    Thanks, Alison

Ha! jQuery definitely shouldn’t be needed for this. 🙂

It looks like your Home menu item has the class home-link – that’s what moves it to the left, as you can see here. I’m not sure why that class is being applied, since you said you added it as a Custom Link.

Could you provide a screenshot of your Home menu item, expanded, in your wp-admin dashboard, so I can take a look?

Here’s a guide on how to make a screenshot, if you’d like to help: http://en.support.wordpress.com/make-a-screenshot/

You can upload the screenshot – in a graphic format like JPG, PNG, or PDF – in your Media Library, and provide a link so I can see it, or upload it with a service like Imgur or Snaggy.

    Thanks!

Have uploaded it to the media library:

Hi Alison, could you please click the arrow on the Home menu item to expand it so I can see the details, thanks! To be extra-helpful, also click the Screen Options tab and check off “CSS Classes” to make sure that option is displayed too.

I’m trying to see if you’ve perhaps manually assigned the class “home” to this link.

For example, my Home custom link looks like this when expanded:

    Menus kp test site WordPress

And this is what it looks like on the site:

kp test site just another kp test site just another kp test site just another kp test site just another kp test site just another kp test site just another kp test site

    Thanks!

    Hi Kathryn

Have now moved onto a new version of the site: http://www.stleonardsyard.org.uk/

Still the same problem with the nav – any ideas?

    I’ve updated the theme

    Alison

Hi Alison, I’m still a bit baffled, as the Home link works as expected for me on a test site when added as a custom link.

Would you be able to deactivate the jQuery you mentioned adding so I can see how it looks without it?

Have you made any other changes to the theme or are the files untouched? Another thing you could try is reinstalling a fresh copy of the theme. (If you’ve made any changes to the theme, those should ideally be moved into a child theme, so they’re not overwritten the next time you update the theme.)
