    Hello WordPress community,

    Can a mod confirm this before I try it?

    A clients site is going live from mydomain.com/newsite to anotherdomain.com within my Media Temple hosting service.

    I was reading through the following article: http://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress

    Just realised that in point 2.

    Go back to your OLD blog and go to Administration > Settings > General and change the url (both of them) to that of your new site.

    Could you not just go into PHPMyAdmin and change these 2 urls within the exported database, that way you wouldn’t need to effect the old site at all…
    wp_options > id1 siteurl
    wp_options > id37 home

    The result is the same keeping both sites intact but without the extra hassle of having to restore your old blog…
