‘Window’ on home page.

Hi,
(This might be a long shot ask!)

Does anyone know how to create a window on the front page which we could use to post weather updates / forecast. Like a pop-up, but without the modal aspect. This should appear over the ‘featured content’. Cannot figure out how/where to inject the html.

eg. start 100 from left, 100 down from top, width 300, length 400, background white.

Want to retain the slider posts, so do not want to use a static html page for home.

WordPress 4.8.2 running Dyad theme.

I have tried popups, but then tend to be modal. e.g. Clicking on WINDGURU in the menu initiates a popup.

Ideally, what I want is a hover event that makes a window (div) appear over the featured content image.

Any thoughts?

Some plugins do let you activate the modal popup via a click. For example:

See the FAQ for instructions on how to activate with a click.

Otherwise, you’d need to create a child theme and add your own code to it. If you wanted to go this more manual route, you could look for some tutorials on creating a click-activated modal pop-up and integrate the code in your child theme. For example: https://www.w3schools.com/howto/howto_css_modals.asp

Don’t edit the original theme files. Making a child theme means your changes won’t be overwritten when you update the theme. If you’re new to child themes, you can explore these guides:
