I have a problem with the theme’s mobile layout. On iPhone 5 width, the right side of the website is blank, seems like as if something (an image or text) pushes the right margin out of the layout, but actually there’s nothing that could cause this. I looked up other websites with the same theme and all look the same.

    Screenshots:

    and here.

Please let me know if you have a workaround for this. Thanks!

I’ve just recognised that someone else reported the exact same problem in this topic. Sorry.

Hi stylep – no worries! I’m actually very interested in your report, since one of your screenshots – http://i.imgur.com/X1RMwy2.png – is from a WordPress.com site.

I visited this site on both a real iPhone 5s (running Safari with iOS 8.2) as well as the iOS simulator. On both devices, I didn’t see the gap as seen in your screenshot. Could you please let me know what browser you took the screenshot in, and what iOS your iPhone is running? Is it an iPhone 5, or 5s? Thanks!

stylep – could you let me know if you’re still seeing this issue anywhere, and if so, could you provide the info above as well as the URLs of the sites in question? Thanks.

Hi! yes, the problem is still there on my own site (which is still not a public site) but it seems to be fixed on the wordpress.com site. I’m using 5s, iOS 8.2, Safari.

Also, I partially solved the issue (of having a gap on the right) by changing the meta viewport to <meta name=”viewport” content=”width=device-width, initial-scale=1″>.

There is still a horizontal movement/scroller which is very bothering if you browse a blog on your phone.

Thanks for confirming the issue is fixed on WordPress.com.

Do you see a gap on the Syntax demo here? http://wp-themes.com/syntax/

Could you please go into your theme’s style.css file and copy the line at the top with the version number, like this:

    * Version: 1.0.1

Could you also let me know if you downloaded the theme from WordPress.com – so your theme folder would be named syntax-wpcom – or from here at WordPress.org, so your theme folder would be named syntax. Thanks!

I found the link to your site in your other thread:

Looks like you’re running version 1.0.1 of the .org version of Syntax. I see how you’ve gotten rid of the gap by adding
<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1">. I also see the slight horizontal scroll you’re referring to. I’ve passed all this info along to our developers so we can try to get a fix in place once and for all. Thanks for your reports!

Kathryn, please remove the website URL in your comment above. I don’t want it to be found in this forum. Thanks for understanding.

Just a heads-up that this issue should be fixed in the current version of Syntax. If anyone is still seeing an issue with the mobile display, please start a new thread and we’ll have another look. Thanks!
