Mobile menu not working after WP upgrade

After upgrading WP to 4.9.8 when using the mobile menu I get a black “X” with the barely discernible 2 selection menu behind it. If you can manage to select the “Adventures” link you get the second level dropdown menu displayed ok but you can’t get the third level dropdown menus to display when selecting the down arrows. I’m using the Tesseract theme and siteorigin builder, both of which I also upgraded after noting the problem, but had no effect on the problem.
