Missing posts and broken math in Admin

Above the posts Admin menu, the post count looks like this:

All (235) | Published (8) | Drafts (4)

I have 8 published posts, and SHOULD have over 200 drafts (237?). But only 4 drafts are showing up, and the rest are “in limbo” somewhere, and I have no idea where. I don’t see them on any lists. When I click “All”, it only shows 12 posts—the 8 published and 4 drafts it registers. Where are the rest of them??
