Hi There, we had a meeting with Google last week and they indicated (we are using the free plugin on our website) that it seems like there is a default push and consent update missing what apperently (I am nog a Google expert just a WordPress specialist) can lead to dataloss when it comes to our Google Ads services we are running. Does this subject sound familiar? And if so, can we do anything about this? Do I need to (re)check and reset the plugin settings?

    Thank you for your answer.

    Hi @richard_vermeer ,

Thank you for reaching out, what Google mentioned during your meeting is correct.

Consent Mode v2 requires two specific signals to be sent to Google: a default consent state (fired before any user interaction) and a consent update (fired after the user makes their choice on the banner). Without these, Google cannot apply data modeling for users who decline cookies, which can indeed lead to data gaps in your Google Ads reporting and campaign performance.

That said, Consent Mode v2 integration is only available in the Premium version of Complianz. With the free version, the plugin handles the cookie banner and cookie blocking correctly, but it does not automatically send the consent default and update signals required by Google. To resolve the issue Google flagged, you would need to upgrade our plugin.

    I hope this helps.

    Best regards,
    Antonio
