  • When I look at the source code, I see this:

    <p><a href="http://www.meedosite.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/Nissrine-caught-by-Tariq_1000.jpg" rel="lightbox[4552]"><img class="size-full wp-image-4555 " title="Perception and reality" src="http://www.meedosite.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/Nissrine-caught-by-Tariq_550.jpg" alt="" width="550" height="347" /></a> Perception and reality rely heavily on context.<br />
<span class="drop_cap">T</span>his is a scene from my novel <em><a title="A Road to Damascus" href="http://www.meedosite.com/2010/11/r2dch1/">A Road to Damascus</a></em>, on which I’m putting the final polishing touches before publication. Taken out of context, it gives a severely distorted impression of the power structure between the two characters. They are aware of that, and throughout the story exploit this slippage between perception and reality.<br />

As you can see in the <img> there’s no class for the alignment. I would get rid of the caption. I don’t think that your theme is taking care of these well or one of your plugins is messing about with them and just add the caption below the image instead in the text.

    HI Christine!

Thanks for your response. As a troubleshooting measure, I went ahead and deactivated all plugins. No change.

Your suggestion to get rid of the captions is a very valid one, however I find it very strange that I’ve been using both the theme and captions for a very long time without facing this problem! If you look at the second post (and all other posts) on the page, there are absolutely no problems…

I’m just curious what could have gone wrong and if perhaps it could be fixed, before giving up captions.

    Meedo.

That’s true it does seem strange. Can you try re-inseting the image with the caption, but then add a line break before the text. I do find that WordPress screws up a lot when captions are inserted.
