Migration to pre-existing install

    I have a WordPress site using various plugins and it needs to be migrated to an install of WordPress on a new server with plugins/users already set up. What would be the best way of going about this?

    I asked this yesterday but the topic was closed due to double posting before I could get an answer. I did not intentionally double post (I clicked the post button and then closed the page, so something glitched and it posted twice)

    Dropped one database to import the other. Installing a few plugins again is so much less hassle than trying to merge two sites.

    Try the Import/Export feature. Go to Tools -> Export on the site you want to migrate from, then use the WordPress Importer plugin on the site you’re migrating to. In a perfect world, this will import all your posts, pages, special posts types, and media. If you have a lot of stuff to move, it can be taxing on your server and you might get some sort of error message. In that case, you’ll have to do the import multiple times to get everything over bit by bit.

    If you need to migrate any options and settings, WP Options Importer does the trick. Be very careful with that one, some options are tied to specific site data like the site title. Do a full backup before using it in case anything goes wrong.
