• Hi,

I’ve set up a new WordPress install on a new server, and am attempting to Export all content from the old site to the new one. I FTP’d the uploads directory from OldSite to NewSite, and have managed to export posts and pages. However, the media Library is not recognized, and as a result none of the featured images appear for posts.

I tried using the Add From Server plugin, but it didn’t seem to do the trick. It’s using the same URL…for now I have NewSite setup in config using the same domain name, and just edited my hosts file to get it to point to the new IP when I enter the URL.

Hope that makes sense. Any ideas?

  • You don’t mention the database – how was that imported?

I didn’t bring over the database. I was hoping to use a fresh install and use the wordpress export/import.

I suppose the export should rebuild the image data in the database, but I’m not sure how well that works. I usually import the whole database to be sure.
