Have a new customer trying to migrate from their existing Linux WP to our Plesk based Windows platform.

Have followed the migration to a new server process to the letter, but we still are having problems.

I finally got their site to a point where if I type in http://www.thesite.com/index.php it runs.
But… if I leave off the index.php on the end it goes to a 404 page.

Also, if I try and go to http://www.thesite.com/wp-admin then somehow their site is redirecting me to http://thesite.com/wp-admin which is on their current Linux host.

My hunch is PermaLinks are to blame here… more directly the mod_rewrite tool or .htaccess files.

Any ideas for how to get this customer successfully converted onto our service ???

After 2 days of dinking with this I’m about ready to tell them they have to rebuild from scratch.

    Thanks in advance.

Are you using Apache or IIS? If Apache, make sure you have the rewrite module installed/enabled, and that your .htaccess is correct.

If you are using IIS, then make sure index.php is in the list of default documents.
