• I currently run a blog on WordPress.com. I’m considering moving it to my own WordPress installation at some point in the future.

Is it possible (and/or easy) to move the blog’s posts? I’d guess that it’d be pretty easy, but I can’t be sure. Plus, I know very little about PHP and databases.

  • Hey Hey tcama,

Don’t worry about knowing very little about PHP and databases. If you log into your WP admin, you’ll notice a “Tools” section down the left hand side, in the same row as post/pages/appearance/etc. So just do the following…

    Click Tools

    Click Export

Select what you want to export, if your moving your whole site just leave everything as the default

    Click Download export file

This will give you an xml file.

Log into your new site’s admin and do the following…

    Click Tools

    Click Export

    Click WordPress

Then install and run the plug in and you should be off to the races.

    Hope that helps!

    Cheers,

    Sounds extremely easy. Thanks!
