Migrate a website

Hi,

I would like to ask if I would like change the domain name of my current wordpress site, how do I go about doing it?

Do I clone or migrate or are they the same? Will the wordpress be the same and when will it be safe for me to delete my old site and how do I connect the new site to wordpress?
