meta descriptions for bbPRess?

    Hi there,

    I have bbPRess installed, but my topics do not have any meta added automatically.

    Can anyone help me with setting up the SEO with bbPRess?

    This is what is in my admin at the moment:

    You can change the SEO title and description templates to meet your specific needs with the steps here: How to modify the default templates

    Under ‘Content Types’, you will have a ‘Topics (topic)’ section where you can add a default template.

    Hi there,

    Thanks for the reply.

    I have had a look and it looks like I need to use the %%excerpt%% variable in the meta description field. I have tested it by adding %%excerpt%% in the description and it adds the forum post in there.

    I am not sure how I get this to happen automatically though. I guess I will need to edit my functions.php file?

    Under Admin > SEO > Search Appearance > Content Types (tab), you will have a ‘Topics (topic)’ section where you can add a default meta description using the excerpt variable. This will automatically output the first part of every topic as the meta description. This only occurs if the topic does not have a manual meta description added at the individual topic level.
