Meta description not fully working

In the past (version 2.xx), yoast showing meta description snippet from article or excerpt without I have to put it on meta description box. Now, I have to put it on yoast meta description box to have yoast snippet working. Con is if I have multiple pages article, all of them will show exactly similar meta description. Just FYI, if I don’t put it on yoast snippet editor, I’ll have something like this: “meta description”, “meta description – page 2 of 3”, “meta description – page 3 of 3”
Is there any solution to fix this so yoast will auto fill snippet again?

Edit: Yoast can auto fill from excerpt, but its meta analysis can’t catch it. Like this, even if I put 150 chars on excerpt, yoast meta analysis still saying “The meta description is under 120 characters, however up to 156 characters are available. ”
Any idea how to fix this?
