@dumel – Although the last update was specifically to ensure uploaded file types are correct and safe it should not have affected any meta data itself.
We also tested this and did not see any issue with Meta Data being imported … have you checked if there are any possible conflicts with another active plugin on your site?
Thanks!

Thanks for checking Cais. I deactivated all other plugins but I still have the same result when uploading images. The other change was that the site moved from a windows-based to a Linux environment in the past two days so I will have to check that next. Will let you know if I find anything.

@dumel – I would suggest running the Reset Option under Gallery > Other Option if/when the migration between the servers is complete as well … and it’s nice to read your WordPress will be running in a more appropriate server environment.
Someone once said, “running WordPress on a Windows server is a lot like driving a car across a frozen lake”.

@cais. Unfortunately I had no luck with the reset option. I still get the same result. We’ve had a look at the source code and found nothing obviously wrong. But if you are unable to recreate it I don’t know where else we can look – the hosting environment seems fine. The only solution would be to remove the meta description from the images because then the filename correctly populates the alt/title field, and then manually add the descriptions.
@dumel – You could send us a Bug Report (http://www.nextgen-gallery.com/report-bug/) for us to have a closer look … then we can arrange to get a small sample of the images this is a problem with to test under more similar circumstances.
