I like to show a error message when a user is trying to upload a image that is to large.
Now if the image is to large the blog article is not published without a message.
Can you please show me where and what in the source I have to change to get this done.
    Thanks for your help.

Normally the plugin displays an error message when the image width exceeds the max width specified in the plugin settings. Is that not happening in your case, or have I misunderstood the question, thank you.

Jeff there is no message when the max width exceeds.
Should there be a pop-up or something like that?

Correct, if nothing is interfering with normal functionality, then trying to submit an image that exceeds the max-width setting will return an error such as:

“Error: Image width exceeds maximum (1500 pixels)”

So it could be something (like another plugin or the theme) interfering, or it could be misconfiguration. What do you have for the following settings:

    – Minimum number of images
    – Maximum image width
    – Maximum image height

Also, I recommend troubleshooting your plugins and theme, just to be safe.

Hi kuppj00, I hope you got this sorted out. I’m gonna go ahead and mark this topic as resolved to help keep things organized. Feel free to follow-up or post afresh with any new issues or questions, I’m glad to help however possible. Thank you.

    Jeff,

Unfortunately the problem with not displaying a error message when a upload is to large is not solved.

I use the Avada template for my WordPress site.
In my blog is the form to upload the images:
    https://www.screencast.com/t/SrNnLU9JqR1m
And here are the settings I use:

    https://www.screencast.com/t/1aqMQKYU
    https://www.screencast.com/t/sbiEORZ9sY

    What do I wrong?

I just retested the functionality and it seems to work normally on default WP setup. Have you tried troubleshooting your plugins and themes as suggested previously?

    Jeff,

I have disabled all other plugins and wend back to the standard WordPress theme but still no luck to get a error message(popup) when a uploaded image is to large.

In the server logs no messages what is going wrong.

    Do you have other suggestions?

    Is Multisite enabled?

    No Multisite is not enabled.

Are you using a caching plugin, or is caching enabled somewhere on your server?

@kuppj00 I’ve deleted your offer to let the author login to your site. I’m am 100% sure you mean well but please never offer credentials on these forums. Really, do not do that. Anyone who accepts that risks getting into real trouble here.

Now for the why: The internet is a wonderful place full of very nice people and a few very bad ones. I’m sure everyone here is very nice however, by giving some ones keys to your house you are trusting they wont steal anything. Likewise the person who takes the keys is now responsible for the house FOREVER.

If something was to go wrong, then the author may well legally become liable for damages, which they would not normally have been as their software is provided without warranty.

Please be aware that repeatedly offering credentials will result in us asking you to repeatedly stop before escalating up to the plugins team.

Yes, that’s a form letter and yes, it gets used a lot.

I have received your email and will try to help from there. Please do not post any login infos here at WordPress.org, or anywhere else online for that matter. Thanks!

Edit: This message is in reply to the user’s most recent post, which for some reason is displayed on a different page. I left my reply on that page, but it somehow ended up displayed on this page. Weird.
