Menu Question

Let’s say I want to have a menu item called Years. Years will have submenu items(e.g. 1999, 1998, 1997). When someone clicks on Years, the only thing that should happen is that a dropdown menu should open.

In my case, when I click on Years, I am sent to a page titled Years. So the Years element cannot be a page, But what is it? Thanks.
