Memory Usage Problems NEXTGEN database queries issues

    We need help: Presently our server goes down a few times daily (we get about 35,000 unique visitors daily) and sometimes during the day if we try to get to the website it says “Error establishing a database connection.” Also, we get frequent emails through the day from wordpress saying:
    WordPress memory usage exceeded 64 MB
    WordPress peak memory usage: 75.35 MB
    Number of database queries: 79

    According to our webmaster this is NOT a server or ISP connection issue. It is a WordPress issue. We use the theme starmagazine in our website and have plenty video and photo galleries (we use nextGEN for photos).
