    I keep getting this error. I had this before but normally it was a plugin error. After disabling the plugin everything worked as it should. But now this error just appeared. It appears only when I try to access the backend. The frontend works normally (except that it’s outdated for about 2 months now).

    Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 41943040 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 930 bytes) in /home/pdplanik/public_html/wp-includes/pomo/entry.php on line 76

    My hosting provider said I should reinstall wordpress (I copied all the up to date files except wp-config).

    I also tried to increese the memory in wp-confi with define( ‘WP_MAX_MEMORY_LIMIT’, ‘256M’ );

    Nothing worked and my provider is really no help at all. They just ignore the issue. I am inclined to thing this is a server side issue.

    HI ,

    i believed that hosting provider can help you more. But you said that they helpless.

    Its ok we can try.

    Just add the line

    php_value memory_limit 256M

    in the .htaccess file in root of the wordpress intallation.

    Inserting that results in a 500 internal server error.

    This is how I did it:

    # BEGIN WordPress
    <IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /
    RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
    RewriteRule . /index.php [L]
    php_value memory_limit 256M
    # END WordPress

    Remove php_value_memory_limit 256M from htaccess file.
    Open your wp-config.php file and add the following code to the very bottom, but just before the “happy blogging” line:

    define('WP_MEMORY_LIMIT', '3000M');
