    Hi,
I have upgraded to WP 28.5.
I have been trying to upload a photo to my “Revolution Lifestyle” theme dash board. All of the permissions in my wp directory all check out. I am using just the plugins that were assigned to my blog theme. One of them is “Featured Content Gallery”. When I try to upload a photo I get this error message: “Unable to create directory /home/tony452/public_html/internetbusinessreviewblog/wp-content/uploads/2009/10. Is its parent directory writable by the server?”

i have read the Sticky Above “Image/Media Uploader problems?” and really don’t understand it so well. So I am asking if anyone have had a simular problem & how they fixed it.
    Can anyone help me?

Any help will be greatly appreciated as I have been struggling with this one for some time now. 🙂

    Thank You,
    Tony S.

I want to thank you all for all the advice and help you have given me. My upload problem hs finally been resolved. It turns out that I needed 1. to create a uploads folder in my wp_content folder
    2. change the permissions on that uploads folder to “767”
    3. write the correct value in WP admin dashboard “settings”> miscillaneous> Store uploads to this folder to: “wp-content/uploads
    4. uncheck the “Organize my uploads into month- and year-based folders”
That’s it, I hope this infomation will help someone else that will have this problem in the future. 😉

Trial and error also was a lot of help

    Best Wishes,
    Tony S.

That final ‘7’ in your permissions setting means that the folder is world readable, writable and executable. That is a very insecure setting. Anyone can write to the directory.

This doesn’t solve the problem for those who need the month/year based folders or who need some other folder structure, as I do.
