Media -Picture incorrect display

    Going to Luisa’s Treats site http://www.Alvaro-Mejia.net the image of a tray of cupcakes is pretty much square. This is upsetting, because in the setting of the page I defined the image as 300 pixels wide by 120 pixels tall, which is a rectangle. The original picture was 270 px. by 130 px. What has to be done to get the desired results?

    When uploading an image the image has a set of dimensions; I call these original. In my example the jpg file uploaded from my computer it was 270 by 130

    Creating (Add media) or editing an image in the WordPress page (post), there is an option to define the size of the picture. I adjusted the dimensions to 300 pixels by 120 pixels to emphasize the rectangle shape and hopefully use most of the width of the page.

    Am I using a thumbnail inadvertently?

    Your theme may use a completely different image size for some thumbnails. What theme are you using? Where did you download it from?
