• I finally got 3.4 working, am able to see my admin pages, add posts, etc. However, when I click on the Upload/Insert Media icon within the post absolutely nothing happens.

If I click the ‘Media’ option from the left side menu I can upload images and even assign them, however, again when I am in the post itself and select the icon nothing happens.

    Please advise!

Got the same problem on all my blogs that I updated still awaiting a solution 🙂

pretty much the worst upgrade I’ve ever seen. Time to find a new blog company.

    See http://wordpress.org/support/topic/troubleshooting-wordpress-34-master-list

FWIW, this was one of the smoothest updates for a while.

Okay, that’s all Greek to me. I don’t know what I need to do to make this thing work, but I have a very important post that I need to have up on Friday and attaching images are a MUST!

What the hell do I do?

[No bumping. If it’s that urgent, consider hiring someone.]

    esmi,

I couldn’t even access my admin panel, nothing worked. I had to upload a new version of 3.4 just to get into the admin panel. From there it would not accept any media. My host company said something probably got messed up in the update and new upload so do a fresh upload. I did that.

Now it wants me to do what’s on this page http://richkesslerdesigns.com/blog/wp-admin/setup-config.php?step=1

Fine, I’ve done that, probably 30 times. It will NOT progress pasta blank ‘step 2’ page. Only after I highlight the url and click it does it tell me the Prefix cannot be blank. I have entered so many words that I’m running out of ones to use and it still gives me that error message.

It seems to me the install worked on my end, right now it’s all on WP since they’re the ones giving me this error message, which according to people here (in the other thread) say it doesn’t matter what word follows wp_

I couldn’t even access my admin panel,

And? There are directions for what to do in this situation in the topic at the link I posted above – namely to try:

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme by renaming your current theme’s folder inside wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress.

    – running the upgrade manually via wp-admin/upgrade.php

My host company said something probably got messed up in the update and new upload so do a fresh upload

A fresh upload is not the same as a fresh install. WordPress is stopping at this point because, if it allowed you to continue you would wipe out your entire site’s content – with absolutely no way of getting it back.

The wp-config.php file is gone. Did you delete the files before uploading a fresh copy?

You’ll have to edit the wp-config-sample.php file and put in your database details. The prefix is whatever you used previously. If you don’t know, ask your hosts or use the database management tools they provide to go into your database and see.

Rename the wp-config-sample.php file to wp-config.php and see if your site is accessible again.

    See http://codex.wordpress.org/Editing_wp-config.php for more information.

    Fonglh,

I’ll try that, but when I say this is all greek to me it really is. I barely understood how to change the headers within the blog!

Do I do each one, or try one at a time? I renamed the folder to theme-old but that still wants me to do the config page when I try to access.

Next question, there’s a ‘twentyten’ folder, do I keep that?

I renamed the file as you suggested and this error showed up

Warning: require_once(/home/rskdesig/public_html/blog/wp-settings.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/rskdesig/public_html/blog/wp-config.php on line 90

    Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required ‘/home/rskdesig/public_html/blog/wp-settings.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php’) in /home/rskdesig/public_html/blog/wp-config.php on line 90

Do I do each one, or try one at a time?

Carry out all of the steps in the order that I gave them.

there’s a ‘twentyten’ folder, do I keep that?

Yes. What is your current theme’s name?
