• I have recently noticed that several hundreds of images have vanished from within the Media Library that existed when the website was launched. I know that they were there as the source code indicates that they existed at the time of the site’s launch which was around June 10, 2017.

When viewing the source code to locate the absolute URL, it returns a 404 error. I have also reviewed the permissions set on the “uploads” directory to ensure that it is set to 755. And I have attempted to recover the missing images from a recent backup and the backup did not include the missing images.

The site is using Visual Composer 5.2 and the galleries were built with the Media Grid module.

Here are links to the affected page(s).

  • Hi there,

Could you post your .htaccess file code in here? Sounds like a permission issue.

    Thanks

@toddtemple2 try uploading a default wp .htaccess file to your server and check images again.

Also try disabling Wordfence “Malicious file upload” feature. (just for testing purposes)

    Post results.
