    Hi
    I am complete newbie so please forgive me if these questions are stupid. I added a link to the image but it doesn’t display on the page.Does it matter that the posts are part of a category?
    I’m also reading about shortcodes. Where are these to be added?

    Please have a look at https://codex.wordpress.org/Inserting_Images_into_Posts_and_Pages

    It normally does not matter whether a post/page is associated with a certain category (unless you use a very customized theme, these are organizational aids only).

    Regarding shortcodes, there something like special tags to use in the mark-up. To begin with WP, it’s probably easier if you stick to the Visual mode of the editor for the moment.

    Thanks. I dont have any issues actually inserting images. The issue is getting Media Credit working correctly.I guess I will have to try and figure it out

    Sorry, then I did not understand you question correctly. Have you got a link to a post where we can see the problem?

    As I said, I’m not sure what problem you are having withe Media Credit. If you can link to a screenshot or an example post, I will have a look at it.
