Hi,
The access control widget is not designed to work with media files. We need to remove it from the media page to stop confusion with it.
Yes posts are only restricted and not the post title or excerpt on post archive at the moment. We are looking at adding in more control options for this.
I will check out the 404 issue. Did you set a redirect url?
Thanks

Hello,
Thank you very much for your answer. Unfortunately, it made me sad…
You have a very good tool, there is a problem and instead of repairing it you would like to remove the feature. I am sure that lots of people would like to use Access Control for Media files also, mainly as it is installed there also… 🙁
The 4043 is not an issue. It is a consequences and I do not have a problem with this. My problem is why I can see the post title and excerpt of a post if I do not have a right to see anything from that post… When do you plan to correct this?
Thanks,
Istvan
It’s not that we want to remove it. Access control for media has never been a feature of UM. It’s just that the access control widget accidently shows up there and we have not yet removed it from showing on media. Hope that makes sense?
The post issue will need to be added in as an option as quite a lot of people requested that users can see post title and excerpt but not read whole post.
UM is only a few months old so it takes time to build up the plugin to have all the various options and features people want.
Thanks

Thank you very much for your answer.
Concerning the media files, i understood your point of view. Apart from this, it could be an excellent feature and could protect all of our value that is in files.
I understood also the post issue as an option. I do not know how old UM is but I am sure that this will be the best access control system not in the far future… Maybe this is the reason why you get lots of feedback and ideas…

Istvan
Thanks. Yes many people are very passionate about UM and we will be making improvements to the plugin over the coming weeks, months and years. Thanks for your support 🙂
The ability to restrict media files too would be mega awesome. I’d pay to upgrade if this was a Pro feature. Fingers crossed you might consider this for the future! (Please ignore the support ticket I sent you about this – this post has answered my question)
