Maximum recommended upload size per image

Is there a hard upload size limit built into the gallery itself, separate from whatever the server’s PHP settings allow? Some of our source photography files are quite large before compression.

    Hi, thanks for your question.

The upload limit comes from your server/WordPress settings (PHP upload_max_filesize, post_max_size), not from the gallery.

We do recommend not uploading extremely large originals: resize and compress images to a sensible size for the web before uploading. Very large images slow down loading and, together with optimization plugins, can cause issues.
