Maximum file size for imports?

    I’m planning to migrate a pretty big site soon. Just curious if there’s a specific file size limit for the free version, or if it depends on my hosting provider’s upload limits? Don’t want any surprises.

    The plugin itself does not impose any restrictions on exporting or importing a website. The restrictions come from your hosting provider or plan. Here are some common limits you may run into:

    – Max upload file size: the size of the backup that can be imported is controlled by the webserver and PHP configuration.

    – Max file size: hosting providers cap the maximum size per file (often 4GB to 8GB, sometimes unlimited).

    – Max execution time: when the upload takes a long time, the hosting may stop the script performing the upload.

    We offer a premium extension that solves these restrictions for you, so you do not need to contact your hosting provider or configure anything yourself. Many people use both the free and premium versions, it depends entirely on your needs. For large sites and peace of mind I recommend the Pro version, though it is not required.
