• Recently I have been notified by Google that their crawl has identified >12000 links with 404 error on my website ipi-infrared.com.au

These links are bogus and are linked to the pages which again give 404 pages.

Can someone tell me how I can counter this problem? How can I stop someone or something that is creating these many bogus URLs on my website?

  • Hi there!

    please take a look here:
    https://blog.sucuri.net/2015/11/404-errors-search-console-spam-seo.html

There is not much that can be done in terms of if someone really wants to continue that spam to fix it permanently.

The most important part is that those 404’s have no effect on your SEO so you may as well just choose to ignore it.
You only need to worry if any of those links starts to result in a 200 or if they even start appearing on your Search Engine results page.
    Thanks!
